1994 - Bug Apartments
The Bug Apartments are made with paper, wood, freeze-dried worms, dust mites and a plastic plexiglass case. These mixed media pieces show architectural forms such as an arch, dome, flying buttress, post and lintel, pyramid, step pyramid and sky scraper. The forms are made with cubes of freeze-dried worms (tropical fish food) they are glued on the wood and on the paper which is written on. A few dust mites are placed inside the plastic case. The dust mites inhabit the piece where they multiply, live and eat. Their resiliency continues to this day as the work evolves.
